Actually I tend to dismiss this claim as being only new-agey and without a great deal of credibility, Chris. For the last 200 or so years people have offered up ideas what 'Stonehenge was really about' and it still depends pretty much on who you ask!

Yup, the authorities are concerned about damage. Time, weathering and pollution take a big toll already on the monuments. There are those who fancy themselves New Druids and such who used to be allowed to prance about and generally act silly. But that was changed in the 70s, I believe. Attracted a lot of hippie types, still does.
I'd love to visit all the 'mysterious place' - Stonehenge, the pyramids on the Giza plateau, the Yucatan penninsula and such (tho, I don't put any stock in the "mysterious" notions. )
Quote: Older Friends of mine tell me all about their drunken misspent youths there.
That's what youth is for - drinking and misspending, hahaha!!!
In the US, many of those with these kinds of interest go to the Burning Man get-together in Nevada. Draws a lot of people from outside the US, too. All kinds of hippie-ish, new-age inspired and other partying goes on. I've never been, but I've heard about it.
