Actually I think it's the alternative to a cold shower after a sauna to close your skin's pores. (Pic probably taken in Scandinavia somewhere.... they're mad up there!!!!) LOL

Scandanavians beat each other with birch branches while they're in the sauna, too. Idea is to drive the impurities out of the body. I learned that reading an interview that Boris Yeltsin gave when he was stone drunk, he was talking about being in Finland for a summit and taking a sauna with the Finnish president. How's that for ruining your appetite, picturing Yeltsin and Ahtisaari stark naked in a sauna whipping each other with birch branches? :lol
