WOW! :D :D :D :wm

The tailpiece looks unfortunately non-original, because Gibson used the Trapezoid tailpiece (pic below) until 1953.

In original condition you can achieve up to $ 100,000 for this guitar! :aw

he had mentioned something about the tailpiece so u r correct on that....his grandfather bought it new back in 52 and he inherited it when he died....he plays it like it is just a regular old guitar so i told him he needs to hang it on the wall and leave it alone AFTER i played it of course:boink

HAHA! You're out of the loop Sterling! :)

A 2005 REISSUE of a 1952 LP Gold Top is around 20 grand when you buy it in Kalamazoo! A 1959 Sunburst Flametop even more expensive... as a REISSUE :) ;)

We're talking about a collector's item here and usually you don't find a price tag when one original is offered.

I worked in a music store in Frankfurt and saw a 1952 Gold Top changing hands for 50 grand and it even was not in perfect condition :)

Seem to recall the selling prices well under 10g., maybe things have changed but I don't know the LP market that well..

20g for a reissue??? That's completely nuts if you ask me and more of the bottom is dropping out of the vintage guitar market every day, I just bouught a decent '66 Tennessean for less than 1g and I could only make a few hundred on iy in today's climate..

The prewar martin d-45 are the hot item, that one is worth about 300g, a d-28 about 125g, the Early Gretsch White Falcon can bring a few hundred grand but I've never heard of any Gibson being worth 6 figures.., maybe to Germans who think owning one will make them cool like Americans but not to anyone else.

"What you know" BLAHBLAH :D

Is that the "I know what you don't know game" here? :)

WHAT I know is that this E-Bay guitar (the real guitars usually are sold in private collector circles not on E-Bay) is in a absolutely horrible condition...

Good joke! :wtf

Kenny Wayne Shepard forked over more than 30g on a 62 Strat that looked far worse, cosmentic condition is not a major facter in the value of a vintage guitar and I shouldn't have to tell you that.

Private collections? You mean the clowns that pay 10 times the actual value of a guitar because they want something cool to show off to their friends?

Yeah, they're a slick bunch allright...

HAHA! :)

At the end I would never buy a guitar via E-bay old or new.

I played several real old Gibsons and Fenders and there were more guitars playing worse and staying uot of tune than any 2005 model for 1,500 bucks.

If you have a top condition Les Paul 1952 which plays well AND sounds cool.... that's when you can achieve the high prices from the "clowns". :)

Apart from that, a 1959 Sunburst reissue (2004 model) is 15 grand minimum today :)
