he really is one talented person, fantastic vocal range and control and great guitarist. Strange outfits, but hey. He really got the crowd going. The crowd and atmostphere was fantastic, everyone was on their chairs, and the venue - superb. Its the first time there's been a music extravaganza like this in HK...

www.hongkongharbourfest.c...index.html

Karen Mok, however, who opened the show was mediocre (vocally and performance wise) to say the least. She was dwarfed by the big stage, and made it worse by singing Karen Carpenter's "Close to you" (somebody should've told her this was a rock show, not a karaoke bar), and in another song some strange canto-rapper growled into the mike (inbetween bits of boring singing from Ms. Mok) sounding much like a bear in pain. Still, after they left and a collective sigh of relief was heaved, tiny Prince arrived after a half hour wait and simply filled the place! Amazing how much stage presence he has.

We will be going for the Craig David concert today and then Michelle Branch and the Rolling Stones. An inbetween I shall be the Ugly Duckling. All in all October is turning out to be a fun month!:sensational

But I have to turn in my assignment on monday.... arrrrrrrrrrrrgh. :ohno

Well I have to say PRINCE lived up to everything I was told to expect - the best part was MACEO PARKER was in NPG that night!! WOW!! Didn't expect that!! wheeeeeeeeee! He played some great sax. Fantastic!!

PRINCE played medleys of some of his famous songs and played some that he had written (Nothing compares to you, You got the look) and played some excellent party funk!! And the encore was "Purple Rain" hahahaha

Tight solid band - Prince is a great performer - I picked up some good tips from him.

I took a couple of pics and a few 10 sec videos which I'll post when I'm logged in from home.

Debbie - I was just offered free Craig David tickets and I had to say "no thanks" - I'm off to watch "Kill Bill" at the flicks!! :rollin

But anyways "MY NAME IS CHRIS! AND I AM FUNKY!!" hahahaha I have to say I would see Prince again and again. I loved his tight band and WOW! For a short guy, he's very sexy :blush

Plus he DID play that 'signature' guitar for Purple Rain - AWESOME!! He's a brilliant guitar player - guess I've got a new crush? :blush

it was good running into you there! I'm going to the CD show, I wont say whether I have free tickets or not... :aua If I find it boring I shall leave and finish my assignment hehe.

I will definitely not be seeing Kill Bill. Seriously NOT a fan of quentin-bloody-gratuitous-violence-tarentino, but you have fun!

OK Prince had Maceo Parker on Sax!! whooooooo!! WHooooo!

The drummer was called David Blackwell? Great pianist called Renato. A female keyboard player/backing vocalist called Rag (?)

Here's a pic from last night. I slipped in a camera even though we were told not to and had our bags searched!!

He didn't play anything raunchy which was disappointing - I was hoping he'd rip off his clothes or something like that (!!)

Here's a LINK to an avi film of 10 seconds of Purple Rain hahahahaha

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The video is cool! :D :D

I saw Prince twice here in Frankfurt over the last years.

He's truly one of the best performers and entertainers!

I bet he had a huge sound, since he uses a P.A. system from Switzerland! :LOL :aua ;)

He has a tight band, always!!!!

Your camera amazes me - that it also captures video with sound..........Where did you hide it, if your bags were searched?

Did he do "Little Red Corvette"..?

Sounds like you had a great time, Chris!

:fades

I think I've mentioned the lad is a local (well, to me) fellow; the film "Purple Rain" was shot in & around Minneapolis, including all of the performance shots at the premiere local hotspot "First Avenue" .

Actually, me and what's his name attended the same schools, being from the same "hood" . But not at the same time, lol. Prince was a few years after me. Mebbe he warmed up one of my old chairs though! hahahaha. I'll take any brush with fame I can!!
