The 1st thing the band needs is one song that would appeal to at least 100,000 music fans. That one song needs to be produced at a pro level and marketed via every media avail. in the area. Live gigs need to be video taped until a video of that one song is pro level video. That video needs to be promoted to all avail. media. The band needs a solid image that is unique, that stands out from the herd of other bands in the area. By area I mean Hong Kong. A PR person with a success track record needs to be hired once the product is viable to market.

I have no idea if Chris is serious about this band ;if she is, what level of seriousness does she have? It could be a hobby.

Maybe to be continued....

:auto That's one of those compliments that is rather dubious. I know this business. Had I found a band in my local area that possessed the "goods" and also common sense ie. not had their heads up their ass, I could have gotten them a major deal. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a band that has both.

What I know and how to go about implementing what I know is not a secret. It's all here.

Almost everything you need to know is here:

Of course developing the contacts and knowing how to relate to them is another story.

Thanks Pris!! LOL!

And interesting comments from both Phil & Drooly - food for thought.

It begs another question - does everyone here who do music, do you want to do it for mega-fame and fortune?

I am guessing the answer is that most just do it because they love it and are not looking for anything other than having a few people hear their songs. It's just a cool hobby. The attitude of most is that if they play gigs and have a Net presence that if anything was meant to happen it will on it's own. Why worry about it or do anything about it because if it was meant to happen, it just will.

Hey, nothin' wrong with that. Everybody has their own way of looking at things.

first of all i think chris has already her fans

and actually she's much more than her looks

She's pretty, that's undenieable, that may help, that's not a handicap, but i agree with drooly she's not exploting her sexuality, she sings, composes, and she's an good person

and also a brilliant woman with an excellent brain.

Phil, honestly i have read you sometimes about mtv (i don't like mtv either) and about image, and looks, and such. Honestly, you could question it, if chris were unable to sing, to perform, and she wre only one image, but actually she's not.

as a woman myself, i could choose to make hip hop empty songs and sing take my breath away in a suggesting mode, and use a provocative top and dress as a high school teenager to get what, that's really not te question, we're indie musicians, we often do what's get out from our souls in music, that's in fact our spice. what do you want? an empty pop star earnings lots of money? i think the REAL CHALLENGE is to make an INDIE heard and demostrate the world there are many unknown music worthy to be listened out there.

i think chris is worthy, don't you?

as i listen to serena matthews and many others. I would buy their cds if they were in my shop and not because i know them, that's the question TO REACH, not what we make actually-

Sure Pris I agree but that wasn't my question.

Chris about your question: Can't you figure that out from having read a few posts of mine? :b

I am trying to get actual details from Chris and others that live in Hong Kong regarding the first question. I feel that the real details might be intersting instead of discussing vaque notions.

you're sometimes cryptic

and with that

I'm thinkign thoroughly lots of things, avatar pic, more even LOL

heheh

If you're trying to guess if people here think it would be not so risky to invest on chris and make her success, i truly believe so.

i think what a band needs to be star

patience, determination and persistence

and sadly

Luck

unless they have precise contacts most depends on luck, and that you don't desist before that chance already comes

you could be doing all that huge list and still not having luck, actually it's all very mediatized and indie hardly have a chance to fight against. well there are easier ways than others, then it all depends on what you really want. Easy ways can lead you to where you didn't intend to go.

The word cryptic has been mentioned several times in regard to some of my posts.

Cryptic:

*Having or seeming to have a hidden or ambiguous meaning : MYSTERIOUS

b : marked by an often perplexing brevity

Not the case. I feel that my posts are straight forward. :D

i tend to use cryptic

when people posts with a riddle like grammar

it's not an insult actually

i don't mean "ambiguous" or with doubting meaning"

maybe it's not the best word though i use it a lot

actually that people hasn't guessed at many points what you really meant make you by definition cryptic,

because the real intention of the question is sublaying

but it has many other meanings too

cryptic colours, a strategy not to get noticed (that wouldn't make much sense either)

Phil

you love to question what i write

don't forget i'm not english native speaker

i'm not intending to portray anything bad

though i confess i see you lately too concerned about numbers and stats and plans of success, it sometimes portrays it as if we hadn't reached a success already, actually having people that like what i do i call it success, and being the favourite singer of some people, and i know that, for me is like stardom, it's a question of scale. I may be wrong because i'm not english native speaker but sometimes it looks like so.

but never meant to insult you with "cryptic"

actually i think it's a very uncommon word that in spanish it's often alluded to scientifics, when they speak in scientific terms and are not understood.

but actually it's not a

hidden intentions

meaning
