What does "Troparion" mean?



I have this mp3 collection that I got from the old mp3.com called "Sacred Russian Music" and the 1st track is called "Troparion" of something or other...



?

It's some sort of religious poem set to music or something, something to do with the Russian Orthodox Church. A bit like a Carol or something, I'm not really sure.



I'm only half-Russian and that religious stuff ain't my bag.

Yeah, I figured I was grasping at straws.



The song with that in the title is a really nice song. Of course, I can't understand the words, as it's either in Russian or Greek (chant?)...



But the voices sound great.
