DJSA, yeah, that boring voice is mine.

I'll record some poetry, you can make a tune with that, far more interesting! hehehehehe Although it would be really interesting to see what you can do with that monotone :wgrin

:ww

I've just been digging through TONS of photos for some interesting ones to post. Trouble is I'll have to scan all of em in, and I'm half asleep...

Sethr, the accents I especially love are the lilting ones. The scots, irish... (a few people have said I sound "Welsh" on the phone hahahaha). Fascinating. The different US accents, and british pronounciations... we had someone who visited us in India who pronounced puddle as "poodle" and cuddle as "coodle". Wonderful.

Cheers for the post! :D

heya Debbie -

"Mouth movement and the way people pronounce words especially fascinate me."

I love doing accents, even though I'm not all that good at it. Sometimes it's helpful in communication, too. You could ask Chris about AR (Anthony Robbins) and some of his teachings on "mirroring/matching" others. That is, adopting the communication modes, body language-movements, voice, intonation, etc. of another person so that you're more in sync. For example, Midwest USA is very flat accent wise - but if I make a call to customer service of some company and the person is in the south, often I'll slip into a southern accent. Gotta be careful so it doesn't sound like you're mocking people tho, lol!

You have a wonderful accent, Debbie. Brit-Indi, I'd say. This snip is a voice that would work well for a movie with a female-voice computer. I mean that as a compliment! hahaha! You have a clear voice with good annunciation - but it's not at all dull sounding.

<"Normally I speak quite fast and far far more sing-song (as Chris will attest). And when I'm mad the Indian accent is pretty strong!">

hahaha - I very, very rarely get angry or real worked up, but even then my cadence doesn't change much. I drive myself buggy that way sometimes.

I'm enjoying the pix Sethr has posted here. Y'know, I grew up in a lower-working class neighboorhood (i.e working poor) and though it wasn't quite like the photos here of course, I think there are some "univerals" among poor folks everywhere.

Actually, that perfect British pronunciation intimidates me a bit....

Makes me feel a bit embarrassed by my lazy North American pronunciation.....

(Well - not really, but kinda....)

I dont have a perfect brit pronounciation. That whole thingy was wierd anyway. I'm far more careless.

I even nod my head when I speak, although its so subconscious I dont even realise it...

Mebbe if the folks wanted to hear the Indian accent more and since you slip into it when you become mad, I could get you worked up debating geo-political matters and you could let 'er rip!! hahaha

<<we should start a thread with everyone doing a voiceover saying hi to the gang!>>

That's not a bad idea, everyone who wanted to could tag on a greeting from their locale.

Yeah, Chris - they are really nice pix of India and Indian folks!

But the pic below reminded me of the character from the Simpons, "Apu" the guy from India who owns the "QwikieMart": WAV - "Please do not offer my god a peanut!"
